The lovely folks over at Mr & Mrs WoW have a brilliant project going on at the moment to get some positivity back in to the WoW community. They have asked:
What I propose is that we all list the top 3 things in Warcraft that we LOVE. The things that make us play the game. The events, places, achievements, battlegrounds… whatever it is that floats your boat. The more ideas we get the better – so many people haven’t heard or haven’t bothered with certain things because they don’t know (enough) about it. Let’s change that. Let’s give the community our joy of the game back.
What a brilliant idea! There really is so much negativity flying around in the community at the moment, so I think something the highlight the positives is a brilliant idea.
So, without further ado, my top 3 things in World of Warcraft that I love.
- Playing with the awesome people in my guild.
I’ve been so fortunate to find a guild that is as silly as I am. They are do funny and generous and just make the game so much more fun. Having played for about 4-5 months on my own with no-one in guild was sad, and really reiterated how much more enjoyable this game is when you’ve got other people to play it with. - The music
The music in game is spectacular. Sometimes it can be heartbreaking (the music that plays in the destroyed Vale gets me every time), or downright terrifying (Naxxramas, anyone?). The music is always epic, even when it’s subtle. Definitely a favourite. - My pet’s footprints in the snow
It sounds silly, I know, but the changing sound of footprints as we walk over different surfaces has always fascinated me. I squealed the first time I realised I could also hear, and see, my pet’s footprints in the snow, as well as my own! I love little things like this! The sound of the map opening and closing as I get my bearings, the sound of the different types of loot going in to my bags – little sounds that immerse me in the world of Azeroth. - Bonus: the sound that plays when I accept and complete quests
This brings me back to the first day I played WoW, and still gets me every time. It makes me think of hunting and learning and ADVENTURE! And adventuring is what it’s all about.
So there we are – my favourite things. If you’d like to be involved in the project, please do! Go check out this entry on Mr & Mrs WoW’s blog and join in.
